Titled "Falaise", the painting depicts the historic passage under the choir of L'Église de la Sainte-Trinité in Falaise, France (the famous birthplace of William the Conqueror). What makes this piece truly special is preserved on the back of the frame: an original clipping from The Illustrated London News, dated August 19, 1944. This date places the dispatch directly in the center of the historic WWII "Battle of the Falaise Pocket."
